The "Living Fountains" Project, being implemented within the 2007-2013 Slovenia-Italy Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, envisages the restoration and arrangement of 32 water wells and ponds as monuments of cultural heritage.
The Project is being implemented in the territory of the following municipalities: Miren-Kostanjevica Municipality, a lead partner of the Project, Nova Gorica and Šempeter Municipalities as well as Sovodnje ob Soči/Savogna d'Isonzo, Doberdob/Doberdò del Lago and Portomaggiore Municipalities on the Italian side.
The total value of the Project amounts to 904,699.11 euros; 85 % of these funds is contributed by the European Union.
To Project's goals are: to restore water wells so as to make them monuments of cultural heritage and revive events linked to the historical aspect of the cultural heritage represented by water wells and emphasize the increasing importance of local sources of clean drinking water in the urban space.
There are 12 Project partners involved in the Project, together with the lead partner Miren-Kostanjevica Municipality, taking care of efficient and good quality project management and ensuring the Project's recognizability.
